2017 VOLKSWAGEN CC FIRST LOOK

2017 VOLKSWAGEN CC FIRST LOOK BY AUTO CRITIC STEVE HAMMES

Volkswagen’s four-door sedan styled as a stylish coupe is called the CC and for the 2017 model year is offered exclusively with a 2.0-liter turbo and front-wheel drive.

The base Trend model and top-of-the-line V6 Executive 4MOTION trim have been deleted from the lineup, leaving two cars: the 2.0T Sport and R-Line 2.0T Executive with a starting MSRP of $35,340 including destination.

The R-Line gains a more aggressive front bumper design that incorporates a large lower air intake.  Side skirts and the R-Line logo on the grille further differentiate it from the Sport model, along with unique 18” aluminum-alloy wheels.  It also features stainless-steel R-Line scuff plates and sport paddle shifters for the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Other changes for 2017 include interior enhancements for the Sport model such as standard ebony trim and chrome elements while the R-Line now comes standard with Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control.

VW’s stylized compact is also equipped with a sport-tuned suspension which they say is “aimed at the driver looking for lively, involved handling coupled with a smooth, comfortable ride for daily driving.”
