2017 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK FIRST LOOK BY AUTO CRITIC STEVE HAMMES
Jeep bestows the Trailhawk name to their most capable models. And for the 2017 model year, the new Grand Cherokee Trailhawk delivers a unique and more rugged appearance with a host of functional features to give it an increased level of 4X4 proficiency.
Trailhawk versions of Jeep’s most luxurious model benefit from the range-topping Quadra-Drive II 4X4 System with rear Electronic Limited Slip Differential and a unique version of Grand Cherokee’s Quadra-Lift air suspension that offers improved articulation and total suspension travel.
There’s also Selec-Speed Control with Hill Ascent Control, skid plates and an anti-glare hood decal. The lower front fascia can be removed for severe off-roading, offering up to 10.8” of ground clearance.
Further distinguishing the Trailhawk is a 7-slot grille that debuted on last year’s 75th anniversary model, red tow hooks, 18” Goodyear Adventure off-road tires with Kevlar reinforcement, new badging with red accents and a roof rack with Neutral Gray accents.
Inside, there’s a unique black interior with leather and suede performance seats and updated off-road pages for the Uconnect touch screen.
Available in 7 colors, the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4X4 can be equipped with either the Pentastar V6, HEMI V8 or 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6. An 8-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models. Pricing starts at about $43,000.
