2017 GMC ACADIA FIRST LOOK by Auto Critic Steve Hammes

The trend has been that when a vehicle is redesigned it typically gets bigger and heavier. Not so with the all-new 2017 GMC Acadia.  Providing some breathing room from the smaller Terrain and larger Yukon, GMC has positioned the new Acadia for a more traditional midsize role, though one still capable of 7-pasenger seating depending on model.

New powertrains include an Ecotec 2.5-liter 4-cylinder offering up to 26mpg highway and a 310-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 capable of 4,000 pounds towing.  6-speed automatic transmissions come standard.  The high-end Denali model has the advantage of a Continuously Variable Ride Control suspension for a plusher feel while a new All Terrain model delivers enhanced off-road driving ability through its advanced all-wheel drive system.

On the safety and convenience front, parents will appreciate the new 2nd row tilt and slide seat that works even with a forward facing child seat in place and the new standard rear seat alert than can remind the driver when an item may have been left in the 2nd and 3rd row seats.

Pricing starts at $29,995 while an Acadia Denali is priced from $46,240.
