2016 Infiniti QX60 FIRST LOOK by Auto Critic Steve Hammes

Infiniti’s best-selling crossover, the QX60, receives significant upgrades for the 2016 model year including a refreshed exterior design, retuned driving dynamics and interior revisions.

2016_infiniti_qx60_02Available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, the QX60 taps the brand’s venerable 3.5-liter V6 to produce 265 horsepower, averaging about 22mpg-23mpg in combined driving using premium gas.  Embracing the new Infiniti design language, the redesigned grille is flanked by new bi-xenon headlights and LED daytime running lights.  LED fog lights are standard.

In the rear, you’ll find a new chrome finisher around the hatch and flush mounted sonar sensors.  Elevating the luxury factor inside, contrast stitching has been added to the upper instrument panel and door panels.  With seating for 7, the QX60 is one of the few 3-row utility vehicles which allows the 2nd row seat to slide forward even with a car seat installed.  Passengers will also enjoy a quieter cabin thanks to the use of acoustic glass in the front windows.  From the driver’s seat, new shocks and springs underpin a suspension delivering a smoother ride and less body roll in corners.

New 18” tires have been used to provide improvements in grip and balance.  And lastly, the steering calibration has been retuned for quicker response and enhanced feedback. New safety features have also been added including Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Forward Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection.

Pricing starts at $43,595 including destination.
