2017 Ford Fusion FIRST LOOK
2017 Ford Fusion V6 Sport FIRST LOOK by Auto Critic Steve Hammes
The car, that when you see it coming, still has you thinking Aston Martin has been refreshed for 2017. And beyond that, Ford is giving Fusion shoppers a new performance model intended to leave other family sedans in the dust.
The Fusion V6 Sport attacks the Accord and Camry with a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 delivering 325 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. That’s at least 85 more horses than you get from the 2.0-liter EcoBoost. All-wheel drive comes standard as does real-time suspension tuning. This means the Fusion’s chassis can keep up with its newfound power adding continuously controlled damping based on setup and road inputs. It even includes pothole detection technology that adjusts the shock absorbers to reduce the severity of the impact.
With power and handling come style, and the Fusion V6 Sport receives a more aggressive exterior with deeper air intakes, a gloss black-finish mesh grille, 19” wheels, rear spoiler and dual twin exhaust outlets.
Ford says the 2017 model is the smartest, most technology-packed Fusion ever with the addition of a pedestrian detection pre-collision system and continues to include hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions as well as a new range-topping Platinum trim with greater levels of refinement and craftsmanship.
