2016 Nissan Maxima FIRST LOOK
2016 Nissan Maxima FIRST LOOK
If you’ve ever seen a ‘4DSC’ label on the rear window of a car, you’ve been looking at a Nissan Maxima. Yes, it’s the 4-Door Sport Car heritage of Nissan’s large, front-drive sedan.
And it’s boldly moving into its next generation with the robust power of a highly revised 300-horsepower 3.5-liter V6, new continuously variable Xtronic transmission and for the first time, a Drive Mode Selector with Sport setting tuning the Maxima’s vitals as well as amplifying the engine note in the cabin. Lower, longer and lighter than the previous generation, this Maxima takes thrilling performance even further with the new SR trim, featuring unique suspension tuning, a segment-first Chassis Damper installed at the front to quell body vibrations, and Active Ride Control – part of the Integrated Dynamic-control Module allowing the Maxima SR to offer a ride quality that belies its racier setup. Being Nissan’s flagship means the totally redesigned interior was a strong focus with the goal of rivaling luxury vehicles. Advanced displays and an updated version of the NissanConnect telematics service also debut. Designed for the U.S. market, all five models; S, SV, SL, SR and Platinum are assembled at Nissan’s Tennessee plant.
