NISSAN MURANO NAMED ONE OF THE “10 BEST FAMILY CARS OF 2015” BY PARENTS MAGAZINE

NISSAN MURANO NAMED ONE OF THE “10 BEST FAMILY CARS OF 2015” BY PARENTS MAGAZINE AND EDMUNDS.COM

The all-new 2015 Nissan Murano, which was introduced to near universal acclaim in December 2014, has added another prestigious award to its trophy case – a “Best Crossover” in the Parents magazine and Edmunds.com annual listing of the “10 Best Family Cars.”

2015_nissan_murano_12As in previous years, the top vehicles for 2015 were selected by the Parents and Edmunds.com editors based on safety, convenience and high-tech performance features at all price levels. In choosing the Murano, they stated:

“The all-new Murano pulls off a neat trick, mimicking the creamy ride and luxe features of models costing $10,000 more. It provides stretch-your-legs space for five, easy car-seat access, and storage for a weekend getaway (portacrib and stroller included). The fatigue-fighting ‘Zero Gravity’ front seats are a blessing for long drives. The monitor beams 360-degree camera views, detecting and alerting you to moving objects in the parking lot, from bicycles to shopping carts to little kids.”
– Parents,
June 2015 issue

2015_nissan_murano_17(2)Murano was also recently awarded an IIHS “Top Safety Pick Plus” ranking as one of the latest Nissan vehicles to offer the innovative Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW) and Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) systems specifically designed to alert drivers of potential risks ahead – along with available Driver’s Attention Alert* (DAA) system. The DAA system analyzes driver steering behavior to provide an alert if signs of drowsiness or inattention are detected.

Sales of the all-new 2015 Murano increased 58.3 percent in May and 33.4 percent through May 2015 (compared to the same periods in calendar year 2014).

“The 2015 Murano has found a sweet spot in the competitive crossover SUV segment, offering standout styling, a highly versatile premium interior, advanced safety and driver aid technologies and, of course, Nissan’s legendary driving excitement,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing, Parts & Service, U.S.A, Nissan North America, Inc. “Now, on top of record sales in May, we’re honored to add the highly sought-after Parents / Edmunds.com ‘Best Family Car’ acknowledgment to a great first year of the new Murano design.”

2015_nissan_murano_20(1)As the halo vehicle for Nissan’s expanding range of bold crossovers, the all-new Murano carries forward the new Nissan design direction with its V-Motion front end, boomerang lights, floating roof treatment and efficient aerodynamics. Inside, the new Murano offers an engaging “social lounge” feel through features such as the refined lower-height instrument panel, wide center console, advanced Zero Gravity seating, and the airy atmosphere created by the large windows and oversized Power Panoramic Moonroof.

Murano’s long list of available features include NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Mobile Apps, 8-inch color display with multi-touch control, 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio and Travel Link® (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately), Nissan Intelligent Key® with Push Button Ignition, Remote Engine Start system, iPod® and other compatible devices interface, 11-speaker Bose® (including dual subwoofers) premium audio system and Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System.

Responsive driving is provided by a standard 3.5-liter DOHC V6 connected to an advanced Xtronic transmission. Murano is available in front-wheel drive or Intuitive All-Wheel Drive. Fuel economy is rated at 28 mpg highway for both front-wheel and all-wheel drive models.

Available technologies include Around View® Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection (MOD), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW) and Forward Emergency Braking (FEB). The Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) system utilizes radar to detect a moving vehicle behind the Murano approaching from either side of a parking space.

2015_nissan_murano_18The 2015 Murano is offered in four trim levels – S, SV, SL and Platinum – and in a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The starting MSRP** for the Murano S FWD is $29,560 USD, while the top-of-the-line Murano Platinum AWD is priced at $40,600 USD (full pricing is available at NissanNews.com). The new Murano is assembled in Canton, Mississippi.
