2019 Dodge Challenger RT Scat Pack 1320

2019 Dodge Challenger RT Scat Pack 1320 First Look By Auto Critic Steve Hammes

Trying to keep up with all of the Dodge Challenger variants will have smoke coming out of your ears. Yet, here’s another and much like the limited run SRT Demon this one is engineered for the drag strip. There are 1,320 feet between the starting line and the terminus of the ¼ mile and that’s the inspiration for this new Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320.

Using the big 485 horsepower 392 HEMI with a dose of trickle down goodies from the Demon, the 1320 is a street-to-strip drag car that can go from grocery getter to trophy winner with minimal prep and upkeep.  Here’s what makes it special: Line Lock for an effortless burnout to heat up the rear tires.

Torque Reserve in conjunction with TransBrake and Launch Control provides maximum power delivery while holding the car stationary and controlling tire slip on takeoff.  Launch Assist reigns in wheel hop and helps regain full grip.

A performance-tuned limited slip with a 3.09 final drive and half shafts from the Demon designed for extreme duty.  An adaptive damping suspension with a Drag Mode for the best launch traction and Nexen street-legal drag tires mounted to 20” wheels resisting tire slip, specifically developed for this 2-way Challenger.

Of course, you’ve got to choose the 8-speed auto – no manual here – and Brembo brakes help shut it all down.  If you want more than just the driver’s seat – a weight saving measure –  a mere $2 buys you the rest of the passenger placements.

As compared to the regular Scat Pack, the 1320 shaves .3 seconds off the quarter-mile time to 11.7 seconds at 115 mph and reduces the 0-to-60mph time to 3.8 seconds.

To spot one look for the new interpretation of the Super Bee logo now known as the Angry Bee.  $46,000 is the total MSRP with orders starting later this year and deliveries beginning early in 2019.
