2016 Toyota Camry FIRST LOOK
2016 Toyota Camry FIRST LOOK by Auto Critic Steve Hammes
Just last year, Toyota released what they call “the boldest-looking, quietest-riding, most comfortable and best-handling Camry ever.”
That redesign is driving younger customers to America’s best-selling car, spearheaded by 2 sport trim levels: the Camry SE and XSE, featuring distinguished design, specially tuned suspension, more assertive shifting and sport seats. And now for its follow-up, Toyota offers the new 2016 Camry Special Edition, crafted for owners “looking for an extra dose of both aggressiveness and technology.”
Based off the Camry SE, this limited production model adds sporty interior and exterior features such as unique 18” wheels, smoked tail lamps, Blue Crush Metallic exterior, and much more. Blizzard Pearl paint is available for an extra charge. All Camry Special Editions are powered by a 178 horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Gas mileage is rated at 25mpg city/35mpg highway. Pricing starts at $26,945 including destination. Other Camry trims remain the same, including the base LE with a starting MSRP of $24,300 and the range-topping XLE priced from $27,540. XLE and XSE trims also offer the optional 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6.
Depending on model grade, the Camry offers a variety of audio and Navigation packages with either 6.1-inch or 7-inch touch-screen displays.
For 2016, the XLE and XSE transition to the larger display. Camry XLE and XSE grades equipped with 4-cylinder engines also gain the new Connected Navigation Scout® GPS Link App that uses your smartphone to provide route guidance.
