With the small crossover segment as hot as it is there has to be room for even smaller variants and that’s exactly what Mazda is delivering in the all-new 2016 CX-3. This compact SUV slots in below the CX-5 and provides drivers with an urban-friendly transportation solution that also speaks to their need for style and sophistication. Mazda says the CX-3 “is a vehicle to suit the customer’s creative lifestyle in any scene, from inner-city driving to enjoying the great outdoors.” It showcases an evolved KODO design language, defined as Soul of Motion, by using sharper forms with an enhanced sense of speed. The CX-3’s intention is to offer all the essentials people look for in a vehicle; a design of overwhelming quality and style, packaging developed solely with the customer’s ease-of-use in mind, and the responsive driving feel that Mazda strives for in every model. Power originates from a SKYACTIV 2.0-liter gas engine, 6-speed automatic transmission and a new-generation AWD system that Mazda says exudes “powerful dynamic performance with linear response and excellent environmental performance providing unrestricted driving enjoyment.” Mazda’s radar-based i-ACTIVSENSE safety technologies have been adopted in the CX-3 as well as the new Mazda Connect infotainment system.
