2015 Chevrolet Colorado – First Look

2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71A truck originally only available in emerging overseas markets now has a home in the U.S.A.  Resuscitating the Colorado name, Chevy‘s popular small truck returns for the 2015 model year.  Targeting customers who don’t require a full-size truck like Silverado, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado aims to redefine the seemingly forgotten about midsize truck segment by offering real truck capability and versatility.  Reimagined for the North American market, this truck is the most powerful in the class allowing owners to haul and tow more.  The standard engine is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder rated at 193 horsepower and can be had with a 6-speed manual transmission while the powerhouse motor is GM’s ubiquitous 3.6-liter V6 making over 300 horsepower, mated to a 6-speed automatic.  Both have been tested and validated for truck duty.  When properly equipped, the Colorado has a trailering capacity of over 6,700 pounds.  And for its sophomore year, the Colorado will also offer the segment’s only diesel engine.  Configurations include an extended cab with a 6’ bed and a crew cab with either a 5’ or 6’ bed.  WT, LT and off-road inspired Z71 trims are available, all in 2WD or 4WD.
