Regular Maintenance Tips
Where you have your car serviced is up to you. Your warranty cannot be voided if you follow the basic set of maintenance checks and service intervals. Hi, I’m Steve Hammes from DriveTime.
Most full-service oil change service centers are equipped to know and perform the exact manufacturer’s specifications for service, and most do them as part of their oil change service.
At minimum, the following items should be included whenever you get the oil changed:
- Battery inspection & electrical system test
- Tire inspection & inflation to proper PSI
- Oil and filter change
- Transmission fluid check – Normally transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles
- Coolant/antifreeze check – Usually these are changed every 50-100 thousand miles
- Power steering fluid check
- Brake fluid check
- Air filter inspection- Usually changed every 15,000 miles.
- Windshield wipers and wiper fluid top-off. Wipers should be replaced every 6,000 miles or when they no longer work effectively.
- And finally a lights and signals test, resulting in replacement of any burned out bulbs.
For additional information, service intervals can be found and recorded in you vehicle’s manual.
