2019 VOLVO XC40 MAKES NORTH AMERICAN DEBUT AT THE LOS ANGELES AUTO SHOW
TDN NEWS: 2019 VOLVO XC40 MAKES NORTH AMERICAN DEBUT AT THE LOS ANGELES AUTO SHOW
The new XC40, Volvo’s compact SUV built for city driving, made its North American debut today at AutoMobility LA and the Los Angeles Auto Show. The XC40 sets a new benchmark for safety, design and connectivity in the compact SUV segment. The first examples will begin arriving in Volvo’s nearly 300 U.S. showrooms in early Spring 2018 as a model year 2019. They will be available via traditional purchase, lease, and for the first time, subscription.
The new XC40 is Volvo’s third SUV and provides a new expression of Scandinavian design. The XC40 is the smallest SUV offered by Volvo, preceded by Volvo’s largest SUV, the award-winning XC90 and the all-new mid-size XC60. With the introduction of the XC40, Volvo completes its SUV range and offers three of the newest vehicles in their respective segments.
The XC40 will initially be available with Volvo’s T5 four-cylinder Drive-E powertrain and all-wheel drive. The T5 Momentum trim will start at $35,200 and a 36 month lease will start at $325/month with a $3,000 down payment. Later in 2018, a T4 front-wheel drive configuration will be introduced starting at $33,200. Additional powertrain options, including hybridized and pure electric propulsion systems, will be added later.
The new XC40 is the first model on Volvo Cars’ new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which will underpin all other upcoming cars in the 40 Series, including fully electrified vehicles. Care by Volvo, Volvo’s new all-inclusive, negotiation free subscription service, debuts with the new XC40 and will be offered alongside traditional purchase and lease options. The process starts with an online order and makes owning a car as easy as owning a cell phone. Customers will sign up for a two-year subscription online, which will include an insurance policy provided by Liberty Mutual, maintenance, service, tire protection and 24/7 Volvo Concierge and roadside assistance. There will be an option for customers to change cars and sign up for a new 24-month subscription as early as 12 months into their agreement. Pricing starts at $600 per month.
