2015 Subaru WRX STI – First Look
2015 Subaru WRX STI – First Look:
Though Subaru is best known for its all-wheel drive excellence and granola eating ways, within their lineup exists a lovable hooligan that could scare the skis off a Vermonter. It’s the all-new 2015 WRX STI – the pinnacle of Subaru performance. Derived from their experience in the World Rally Championship, the WRX STI now adds Active Torque Vectoring to its confident grip arsenal, applying brake pressure to the inside front wheel to facilitate more neutral cornering via 3 driver selectable settings. And this is the only Subaru equipped with the Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential version of the brand’s famed Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, biasing the power split 59% to the rear and then allowing the driver to dial it down in 6 intervals to an even 50:50 to suit the driving situation. Also exclusive to the STI is a 305-horsepower version of Subaru’s 2.5-liter Boxer 4, with the turbo adding up to 14.7 PSI of boost working through a specially reinforced 6-speed manual transmission with Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp settings. For improved comfort and practicality, the cabin has been enlarged and features more premium materials and amenities while not affecting the car’s weight. Gas mileage on premium is rated at 17mpg city/23mpg highway. Pricing starts at $35,290 with 3 trim levels available.
