2015 Ford Edge – First Look
2015 Ford Edge – First Look
The best-selling midsize crossover utility vehicle in America is taking its game to the next level. All-new for 2015, the Ford Edge is upsizing, adding new engines and appealing to customers in a more emotional manner. Legroom, headroom and cargo capacity have all increased in a body slightly longer and taller than its predecessor. Though the 3.5-liter V6 carries on, it’s joined by 2 new turbocharged EcoBoost engines. The standard mill is a new 2.0-liter powerplant capable of 245 horsepower. It now has enough muscle to tow a 3,500 pound trailer and can be specified with all-wheel drive. And the new Edge Sport features a twin-turbo 2.7-liter 4-cylinder delivering more than 300 horsepower making it the highest-performing Edge ever. A stiffer suspension with uprated shocks provide the Sport’s sharper handling. All 3 engines come mated to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The 2015 Edge is also the first Ford vehicle to feature speed sensitive Adaptive Steering requiring less effort to maneuver in a parking lot. Plenty of other new technologies such as Active Grille Shutters for improved aerodynamics, Auto Start-Stop that turns the engine off while waiting in traffic and enhanced radar capabilities helping to keep the Edge safely away from other objects highlight the comprehensive Edge makeover. There’s even a glove box knee airbag for the front passenger. Built upon the highly successful Fusion architecture, the 2015 Edge is a 5-passenger crossover that is quieter and more refined than ever. Trims include Edge SE, SEL, Sport and for the first time a top-of-the-line Titanium series.
